The ice cream worked - I feel better today!
Not great, but definitely on the upswing.
Which is great, because it SNOWED today
and I would have hated to miss it.

It's not much to write home about,
but it's the first snow we've seen since May 21 of last year,
when we had our last snow in Colorado before moving.
That's not a typo - it was May 21

January 30, 2020

I was so desperate for relief from this blasted cold that I drove to Wal-Mart
(without even combing my hair first)
gave Jed my credit card
and waited impatiently for him to come out with this.
I think I feel better already.

January 29, 2020

This has been the sum total of my day.
(minus several tissues already disposed of)

January 28, 2020

I took the ornaments off the tree today.
It's the earliest I've done that in years.
But look at this poor thing...
half the lights don't work.
I'm putting us both out of our misery.

January 27, 2020

The fifth, and most recent, lighted building we bought was in honor of our move to Colorado in 2015.
We visited Rocky Mountain National Park while we were in CO for the interview in June,
and saw our first elk then.

There was an elk herd in the area where we lived,
and it was common for the neighbors on Next Door,
when they had friends or relatives coming to visit,
to ask if anyone knew where the herd was grazing at that particular time,
so the friends/relatives could see the wildlife we so enjoyed.
It was pretty amazing.

The fourth lighted building we bought was in 2014, the year we visited Charleston, South Carolina.
It is a completely charming city, full of wrought iron and secret gardens.

I don't think the children get to go sledding very often down there, though.  :)

January 25, 2020 - Part 10

The biggest surprise in the park was this - a dam!

And one last time...foreground in focus...

...background in focus.  :)

January 25, 2020 - Part 10

January 25, 2020 - Part 9

The recreation building by the lake has obviously been around for a while.
Look at the snowflake pattern on this window pane!

And the wavy glass in this one!

Obviously one of these panes is newer...I wish I knew if it was the snowflake or the wavy glass.

The new glass, neither snowflakey or wavy, was sadly ordinary, but at least it allowed for nice reflections,
and even a view to the front window panes in the bottom glass here.

January 25, 2020 - Part 8

The wind was blowing a bit as we moved to the main body of the lake.

But back over towards the cove at the end, it was still peaceful and calm.

January 25, 2020 - Part 7

I was tickled, so close to Valentine's Day, to find two little hearts today...one this rock,

...and the other in this tree!

I love trees, so it seemed this heart was put there just for me.  :)

January 25, 2020 - Part 6

There are two lakes in the park.
We only saw one of them...this was our first glance, a little cove at one end of the lake.

The air was so still, the water was like glass.

These little bushes remind me of something from Dr. Seuss.  :)

To break up the mirror-like reflection, I tossed a pebble into the water.

January 25, 2020 - Part 5

 The moss was beautiful!
