January 21, 2017

One of the things I like best about Golden is the town leaves its Christmas lights up through the end of January.
We walked downtown for dinner tonight...
I stepped into the street and got this shot about a block from our house.

Then we walked along Clear Creek, where the lights are really blazing.
I didn't get any shots that come close to expressing how beautiful the entire scene is,
but here are some close-ups.

January 11, 2017

We spent our last day of Christmas break at the Denver Art Museum to see the Star Wars Costume exhibit.

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan in general, particularly of the prequels and sequels,
but I will never forget seeing the original Star Wars movie in the theater in the 70s.
I didn't like science fiction - had never been a fan of Star Trek on TV -
but this movie was groundbreaking and even I knew that - and was in awe.
So it was pretty incredible to see the costumes from these movies and
all the behind-the-scenes artwork, storyboards and videos.

My favorite part of the museum, though, was the glass work in the gift shop,
particularly these trees.

The triangular prism in the middle of this picture was Jed's favorite...
the lines of color refracted in amazing ways.

Jed loved the Star Wars exhibit,
but our lunch across the street from the art museum,
at BurgerFi,
was a really close second in his heart.  :)

It was such a neat place!
If you're ever in Denver, we'll be glad to meet you there.  :)

January 6, 2017

We got our first snow of the new year yesterday, though sadly it didn't amount to much.
This hasn't been a very snowy winter so far.
We still have hope, though.  :)

January 4, 2017

Jed and I have so enjoyed having a few days of Christmas break at home
before getting back to the grind next week.
One of the fun things we did this week was make this chocolate house.
The kit included molds so we can make it again each year.
We've already made a shopping list for candy for next Christmas to improve our design.  :)
