He is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!

This picture makes Jed look a lot skinnier than he actually is.  :)
Wish I could find some clothes or a pose that does that for me.  haha

As if celebrating Easter wasn't enough, Jed had his first piano recital today!
He started taking lessons in January so it's only been a couple of months
but he did really well and wasn't even nervous.
I didn't get a picture of his piano teacher, which I regret because she is a sweetheart.
This picture was taken afterwards, while the adults were enjoying the refreshments,
one of the students was playing something for fun,
and the rest of the students were congregated around Jed, watching him play Minecraft on the iPad.
I would like to wish for a world without screens,
but then I wouldn't have this blog.  :)

Later that afternoon the kids next door brought over an Easter egg they made to thank us for yesterday's party!

March 26, 2016

We hosted an Easter party for the neighborhood kids this afternoon.
We had a scavenger hunt using items related to Jesus' last week...
palm branch
perfume bottle
silver coins
crown of thorns
and then we had an Easter egg hunt with way too many eggs and way too much candy.  :)

And then it was time for cake!
The kids seemed to have a good time,
but with the sugar highs,
it was hard to know for sure what they were so happy about.

March 25, 2016

We've done something to re-enact the death and burial of Jesus on Good Friday since Jed was a little boy.  We used to use his Woody figure as Jesus, a couple of Buzz Lightyears as guards, and the body of Mr. Potato Head as the stone rolled in front of the tomb.  This year we graduated to using Minecraft figures - Steve as Jesus and an Enderman and Iron Golem as guards.  The results were still the same, though.  :)

March 23, 2016

We got an honest-to-goodness blizzard today!
A foot of snow, high winds, low visibility, roads closed, cars in ditches...
it was awesome!  :)

What wasn't awesome was losing branches on 3 of the 5 trees in our small front and back yards.

There's a bush under that big pile of snow, branches bowed to the ground, but thankfully none of them broke.

Digging out.

Two large cedar tree branches laying across the front walk.
