Wherein I do not share pics of the grandbaby

I love symmetry.

This interesting video isn't what I normally think of in that regard,
but it's a compelling view of symmetry in real life.

Somebody Get Me a Spoon!

I don't mean to post a picture of this beautiful child every day, but I'm finding it hard to resist right now.

Please bear with me...and in the meantime, can I just ask, is it just me or could you eat him up with a spoon too?? :)

Manifold Blessings

We had our little family Easter celebration yesterday morning before we left for church, reading Matthew's account of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus and discovering our own tomb empty and the guards like dead men.

It would be hard to say which of those two things appeals more to a 7 year old boy. :)

When I walked in the door of our church building I was greeted with the exclamation, "There she is!" and I'm sure I was beaming from ear to ear as I expected the greeter was recalling my new Grandma status. I came prepared, ready to whip out my photo album (the one I had put together the night before for just such an occasion) at the merest hint of interest.

I was taken aback to discover my brother wasn't thinking of my new grandbaby at all, but was instead referring to me as the "birthday girl." I was even more surprised to discover that I was just a tad bit disappointed.

As one who has always loved birthdays and celebrating them (since, after all, it's the one day of the year that it's you and you alone who is being celebrated), I knew I had it bad if I was disappointed to be wished a happy birthday instead of congratulated on that beautiful new grandchild of mine.

I have a feeling life will never be the same. :)

A Lovely Surprise

Life has started all over for me.
The young years of happiness
Have come again in a sweeter form
Than a mother could ever guess.

The love and devotion I gave my child
I thought I could give no other...
But life held a greater surprise for me
The year I became a grandmother.

Just Ducky

Katie Sokoler of Color Me Katie has some of the funnest, (I know that's not a word but it should be) most delightful ideas.

It's been rainy weather where she lives, but instead of getting gloomy as I am wont to do in similar circumstances, she turned it into an opportunity to spread cheer.

Storm puddle ducks. Brilliant! Isn't that the cutest thing you've ever seen?

I would have answered that question with a resounding yes had I written this yesterday, but it so happens that my heart is smitten today with something exponentially cuter and infinitely more precious.

My first grandchild. Unbelievable! And he's undeniably the most scrumptious thing I've ever seen.

Nature Studies

It's been another busy week around here, but a good one. Lots of schooling, lots of reading and even a game of tennis!

We've had some fun nature studies of the wildlife coming back to our area, most specifically to the pond beside our house.

Today we saw a new species of duck, one I've never seen before. After some research we learned we have a breeding pair of ring-necked ducks as next-door neighbors. The male is exquisite, and both he and the female have an astoundingly bright white ring around their bills.

I wish I could take credit for this stunning photograph, but alas, I still haven't made it to a photography class yet. The creatures in the pictures I took are almost indiscernible as ducks. This one is borrowed from the website that helped us make our identification - WhatBird.com

April Fool's!

Waking up to this sight has got to be the worst April Fool's joke I've ever seen.

And I love snow!

Check out that weather ball...it was completely accurate in predicting this debacle.

That's something, at least. :)
