April 30, 2016

It snowed for 48 hours, starting Thursday afternoon and ending this afternoon, April 30.
Enough already!  :)
Thank goodness it's too warm for it to stick much.

Snow on a hammock is definitely incongruous, but sometimes it snows in April

April 25, 2016

I wish my camera could have captured the luminescence of these flowers...
the sunshine illuminated them to the point that they looked like they had their own sources of light.

April 24, 2016

We FaceTimed with the grandbabies today...
it's hard to not be able to hold them,
but seeing them in action is so sweet,
and Dyce is starting to want to write his greetings,
which is nice to capture in pictures.  :)

April 17, 2016

The meteorologists were right.

It started snowing Friday night, snowed all day Saturday, and is still snowing this Sunday morning.

Jed and I went outside last night with rakes and a 35 foot extendable pole and tried to get the heavy, wet snow off the branches we could reach.

But it looks like we still have some work ahead of us.

It's supposed to be in the 60s by Thursday, so this won't last.

Good thing, too...there's something a little eerie about snow on flowers.

April 15, 2016

The pictures yesterday were from the front yard.
The snow doesn't start till tonight, so I got some pics of the backyard beauties as well.
I hope they survive the foot of snow being forecast.

April 14, 2016

We might be getting another significant snowfall this weekend,
so I thought I should snap a few pics of the flowers in the yard before they get crushed.
This time we're going to rake the snow off the branches to hopefully keep them from breaking.

Background in focus....

...foreground in focus.

April 6, 2016

We Skyped with the grandbabies tonight and Dyce wrote this for his Uncle Jed.
He's not even in school yet!
I think I'll help him learn how to spell Grammy.  :D

The sunset tonight was spectacular.

April 2, 2016

Remember the mountain we see to the east of our house?
South Table Mountain.
It looks like this in the winter...

...and it looked like this in the fall,
when Tracy and Jed climbed it and I took a picture of them on top of the knob.
You can see a closer picture of them on the top here.

I finally screwed up my courage and climbed it with them today.
The trail leads up to the mesa far to the south of the knob,
so after the climbing we had a relatively easy hike across the flat surface of the mesa to the knob.
I was shocked to see stairs built into the back side of the knob...
that was a nice surprise.  :)

The view from the top was definitely worth the hike!

Tracy is standing at the same spot he and Jed were standing when I snapped their picture last October.
Our house is in the block right above the second outcropping of rock from the left.

Here's a close-up of our block.

Our house is the yellow one on the right, next to the house on the end.

This is a panorama of the view from the top, looking over Golden with Denver at our backs:

There were quite a few people on the trail up the mountain and on the top of the knob, enjoying the sunshine.

Jed hiding in the cleft of a rock on the way back down.

Beautiful lichen on the rocks.
Beautiful day!
