October 18, 2013

Friends from our church in Augusta had a tea this afternoon as a good-bye gathering. It was absolutely lovely. I can't express how much I'm going to miss this state and these people.

These smiling faces are precious to me!

October 16, 2013 - Part 5

Fall was evident in the woods by the creek.

October 16, 2013 - Part 4

This little guy, the littlest Smith, was the hit of the party.
That's a Swedish fish from the sushi he's got up there on his forehead.  :)

And that would be a cucumber.  :D

October 16, 2013 - Part 3

The Chicks made a pinata as a surprise for the party.  Jed was so thrilled!  He said (unbeknownst to me) that he had always wanted a pinata for his birthday and they made his wish come true!  :)

I didn't get pictures of the boys swinging because it happened too quickly, but I did get this nifty pic of the loot arranged neatly on the bridge.  Be still my heart - such organization makes my heart swoon!  :)

October 16, 2013 - Part 2

We celebrated Jed's birthday is the sweetest little spot, just down the road from our house.  Maine is so full of hidden treasures!!

This is the lake at the top of the dam shown in the first picture.

Mrs. Smith looking classic on the gorgeous bridge where we pinicked.

That same bridge, with Jed in between it and the dam.

Practicing being a ninja in front of the falls coming from holes(?) in the dam.

A little footbridge on the other side of our picnic bridge, downstream from the dam.
The boys were playing Simon Says.

October 16, 2013 - Part 1

Jed turned 10 today!  We celebrated with our homeschool friends, the Smiths and the Chicks.  Jed has been Ninjago crazy this year, so a ninja party it was.

The sushi was so much fun!

The Ninjago battle serpents, and no party would be complete without enemies!  :)

The Maine clan of Ninjago.
Enemies beware!

October 11, 2013 - Part 2

We headed to Reny's later in the day, possibly our last time at this Maine institution.
This particular location, in Gardiner, is our favorite.

October 11, 2013 - Part 1

We took an early morning walk in our old stomping grounds of Winthrop this morning.  I like the small lake we live on now, but Cobbesseecontee Lake is a beautiful lake with several nice islands you can actually get out on and explore.  This particular neighborhood around the lake is the nicest one I've seen in Maine, even on a foggy morning.

October 10, 2013 - Part 2

We've been meeting with the Smiths and the Chicks for a writing class.  The curriculum is just excellent...the boys are learning the mechanics of good writing without having to come up with brilliant ideas on their own.  Then during class time they're also learning the mechanics of public speaking, including not just reading your notes and maintaining eye contact with your audience.

October 10, 2013 - Part 1

It was eerily foggy this morning.

Experiment 4:  making Jed disappear.

:)

October 8, 2013 - Part 3

Experiment 3:  dropping Mentos into a bottle of Diet Coke.

We're wondering what folks do to get the geysers we've seen on You Tube videos.
