June 27, 2016

This is the view I have of South Table Mountain from my desk.
I have to turn my head to the right to see out the window.
I know the view is heavily obstructed by our neighbor's roof,
but still, I'm starting to get a crick in my neck from turning it so often.  :)

June 26. 2016 - Part 4

More background/foreground focus play.

June 26, 2016 - Part 3

Some of the natural beauty of the park.

June 26, 2016 - Part 2

Our letterboxing paraphernalia spread out on the rocks.
The clipboard may seem an odd choice to lug around,
but it has proved invaluable for a work surface.

There's a tiny little tin box tucked in this crevice.

This box was found after a tough uphill hike - so glad it was there!

What wasn't there was the stamp.
I can only imagine geocachers found the box and left this money in exchange for the stamp.
How they could possibly imagine this was even close to an even trade is beyond me.
Thankfully the logbook had the stamped image on the front page so I took a picture instead.

June 26, 2016 - Part 1

Tracy and I went letterboxing this afternoon at a place new to us - White Ranch Park in Golden.
Beautiful views!

June 24, 2016

Jed is heading out on his first backpacking trip with Trail Life!
They're going to Lone Eagle Peak, in the mountains west of Boulder.
If you google Lone Eagle Peak, you'll see breathtaking photographs of it.

Apparently 12 year old boys aren't big fans of having their pictures taken by their moms.  :)

There goes my heart.

June 23, 2016

The view from my desk, if I turn my head to the right.
It's especially nice when I can see people on top of the mountain.

June 21, 2016

Cottonwood trees are beautiful and plentiful around here, but their seeds and seed hairs are driving people crazy.

The seeds are so thick in some areas they look like snow.

We pushed this pile away a little to see how thick it was, making it look even more like snow.
It was a hot, sunny day and the seeds were trapping hot moisture underneath.
Definitely not like snow.

June 14, 2016 - Part 3

This car was parked along the route we took...I've never seen this sticker before, but I want one.  :)

Even the artwork on the streets and sidewalks in this town is beautiful.  :)

Click on this pic to enlarge it so you can read the sign...pretty funny.  :)

June 14, 2015 - Part 2

This is the little park we discovered.

This is Clear Creek from near that little park.

The next few pictures are Parfet Park, on the main road through downtown, under water...
the creek is running high right now.

And this is the creek a little ways down, where kayakers play in the rapids.

June 14, 2016 - Part 1

There are quite a few letterboxes hidden around Golden, so we spent the evening tracking down four of them.
I found the first one, and since I'm the family photographer, we didn't get a picture of it.
But this second one was fun...it was behind a LOT of growth in a parking lot downtown...
being stealthy in that situation was challenging.

Box number three was MIA, but it introduced us to a cute little park we didn't know about...
Clear Creek runs through it, but there's easier access to it than downtown.

Box number four was buried more than I've ever seen a box buried...
everyone else had given it up for MIA,
but thankfully I'm stubborn and kept digging and it was as fun as hitting buried treasure.  :)

June 11, 2016 - Part 6

These beautiful roses were growing on the patio of the restaurant where we ate an early dinner...

...which happened to be the location of our last letterboxing adventure of this trip.
I think this is my favorite handmade logbook of all time!
