The babies have been a lot more active today...so much fun!

I think it's a sign they're growing up, that they all have their heads upright today.  :)

June 11, 2015

Look how these little guys are growing!

I was so shocked when I saw one of the parent birds perfectly silhouetted by the evening sun.

It was captivating watching the babies popping up to get fed.

 Look at this little one!

June 7, 2015

We came home from our trip to Virginia this evening, and after being gone 3 days, this is what we found in the nest.
It's hard to tell how many have hatched at this point.

June 6, 2015

We headed to Smithfield Station for dinner this evening to celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day with my parents.

We ran into a tremendous storm on the way and when we arrived at the restaurant
we discovered the electricity was out in the entire town.
They let us stay and we made the best of it...I thought it was rather fun myself.  :)

We rode around town for a bit after dinner, admiring the house that's been for sale for a couple of years now (https://roseandwomble.com/ForSale/HamptonRoads/propertydetail.aspx?propid=REIN|1405279) and posing with miscellaneous statues.

June 5, 2015 - Part 6

We took the James River ferry on our way home to Portsmouth.
One of my favorite childhood memories is riding this ferry.

June 5, 2015 - Part 5

Jed enjoyed interacting with the wildlife.

June 5, 2015 - Part 4

After arriving in Williamsburg, we set out on foot.

Dinner was on our minds, and this establishment fit the bill nicely.

This fife and drum corps procession passing by as we were leaving the restaurant was a pleasant surprise.

June 5, 2015 - Part 3

After leaving Yorktown, we drove the Colonial Parkway to Williamsburg.

This was one of the most exquisite drives I've ever taken, complete with cobblestone road.

All of the overpasses were made of brick and they were stunning.

Every few miles there were turn-offs where signs provided historical information.
I can't remember what the significance of this body of water was, but it was lovely.

This little doe didn't seem bothered at all when I stopped to take her portrait.
