 My crazy-talented sister-in-law made this quilt for my birthday.

I've been looking for a bedspread I like for literally years,

and this is it!

I can't imagine the work that went into this,

and I am humbled and so grateful.

 Jed and I took a walk again this evening.

The light in the trees was so pretty!

 The light hitting this flower arrangement caught my eye this afternoon,

but by the time I got my camera the angle of the light had shifted,

so the photo is a little dark and blurry.

 

 Using the flash cleared up the blurriness,

but it's way too washed-out looking.

This was taken with an overhead light on, but no flash.

I'm still trying to figure out lighting.  ;)

I found these lamps shades at a yard sale a while back and am still debating them.

I don't even recognize myself lately, being drawn to such froufrou stuff.

But I like how the amber beads dangling from the shade match the amber glass in the lamp,

and I kind of like the variation of the shade...

the lighter part has tiny beads,

and the darker part is actually furry!  :)

I only paid $5 for them, so what's not to love?

The darkness, for one thing...

they darken the light much more than the off white linen shades we've had for years,

but they've been damaged in our multiple moves.

Lampshades are so expensive,

so I'm thinking at this point that beggars can't be choosers.

I can live with the froufrou for $5.  :)

Jed and I have been playing Colorku during our lunch breaks lately.

And timing ourselves, because Jed is a teenage male.  :)

Our best time so far is 5:06,

but I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm slowing him down.  :D

If you don't know what Colorku is,

it's a 3D version of Sudoku -

and way better!

 Happy Birthday to my favorite brother, Tom!

Watch him grow up before your eyes...

 Some of these pics are hazy because they are pictures of photographs in albums,

behind plastic.

Still cute though, right?  :)

This pic and the next are a couple of my favorites of us together.

Our birthdays are only 8 days apart, 

and for some inexplicable reason,

instead of baking two birthday cakes in a week,

my mom would make us share a birthday cake

sometime between our birthdays,

which just happened to coincide with her own birthday.

Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want,

but that seems awfully suspicious to me. :D

on my birthday.

I've never seen a flower like this before...

it's been fun watching it open this week!

 Another artist friend from the online group I mentioned a few days ago, Pam,

sent me this card...

her designs are classic and I love them.

But this card is not the only thing she sent...

 ...she included something pretty priceless these days!

Her design includes a pocket for a filter...

she recommends a folded coffee filter.

We've got one more month of school,

and then I'm going to break out my sewing machine

and try my hand at making one of these.

I'm breaking out in a sweat just thinking about it,

but I really want to try.

 Today is Jed's last day of the homeschool program he's been in this year.

He had exams today, 

and yesterday his director dropped off his exam papers on our front porch.

What Jed was dreading turned into a delight 

when he saw what she did to sweeten the experience.

His favorite part was this shirt - he loves geeky tshirts! :)
